Key takeaways

  • Twelve guides in three tracks: beginner, intermediate and builder. Follow them in order or jump to what you need.
  • Every guide separates what AI does well (research, rules, code, reviews) from what it does badly (predicting prices).
  • Safety is built in: API key permissions, overfitting, leverage and scams come up wherever they matter.

This AI crypto trading guide hub is where to start if you want to use AI tools for crypto without falling for the hype. The guides are written for people who want to understand what is going on under the hood: how a "smart" bot actually decides, why a chatbot quotes the wrong price, and which checks stop a good idea from becoming an expensive lesson.

Each guide stands on its own, but they are arranged as a learning path. Beginners can stop after the first track and still be ahead of most people using AI trading tools today.

An AI crypto trading guide for every level: beginner, intermediate, builder

01

Beginner: understand the tools and the traps

Read how to use AI for crypto trading, how AI bots work and how to spot scams. Try one research workflow and a free-plan bot on a demo account. No real money yet.

02

Intermediate: research properly and test ideas

Pick a model with the AI model comparison, use the prompt library for research and risk sizing, and choose a strategy family from AI crypto trading strategies. Backtest, then paper trade for weeks.

03

Builder: write, test and automate your own

Follow the Python bot tutorial, explore open-source bots like Freqtrade, and read up on AI trading agents before letting a model place orders. Hard limits in code, always.

Start here: the basics

Five guides that answer the questions nearly everyone asks first: what AI trading actually is, whether it works, and what the simplest strategy looks like.

Using ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and better prompts

General AI models are the most useful AI tools most traders will touch. They differ more than people expect: one reads X live, one connects to on-chain data providers, one is cheapest as an API. These guides show which to use for what, and how to ask so the answer can be checked.

Strategies and building your own bot

Once you understand the tools, the next question is what to actually run. The strategies guide covers the families that hold up to testing and where AI adds something. The build guide is a hands-on Python tutorial for readers who want full control.

If you would rather use a ready-made platform than build one, our ranking of the best AI crypto trading bots compares the main options on how real their AI is, security and price.

Learn the tools, keep your funds somewhere checkable

Guides and AI tools help you decide; your coins still need a home. CEX.IO has operated since 2013, is a FinCEN-registered MSB with money transmitter licences in 39 US states plus DC, and is FCA-registered in the UK. It does not offer AI tools, which keeps your learning and research stack separate from where you buy and hold.

Registrations checked October 2026 on the company's legal pages. Availability depends on your country; crypto is high-risk.

Safety first: scams, legality and risk

AI is the favourite sales word of crypto fraud. Regulators including the CFTC, SEC and FCA have all issued warnings about fake AI trading platforms, and the SEC fined two investment advisers $400,000 in 2024 for exaggerating their AI. Read these two before you sign up for anything new.

Calculators to check the numbers

Free, in-browser tools for the maths that sales pages skip. Use them before you subscribe to a bot or commit to a plan.

Here is the one most people need first: whether a paid bot can cover its own subscription and trading fees on your capital.

Will a paid bot pay for itself?

Fees · subscription · break-even

A "trade" here is one order (buy or sell). Exchange fees apply on top of the bot subscription.

How each AI crypto trading guide is written

We are an independent information site. No bot vendor, exchange or token project pays for a mention or a position in these guides. Every price, date and regulatory fact comes from an official page or a dated report, and each guide lists its sources with the date we checked them. When something cannot be verified, such as a vendor's claimed returns, we say so instead of repeating it.

We also try to be useful about uncertainty. AI tools change monthly, so we date plan prices ("as checked in October 2026") and flag products in transition. Where we give an opinion, for example on a model's privacy trade-offs, we label it as ours. Our scoring for individual tools is explained on the methodology page, and the AI crypto tools directory shows how much real AI each product uses.

Frequently asked questions

Where should a complete beginner start?

Start with how to use AI for crypto trading for the overall workflow, then how to spot AI trading scams so you know what to avoid. If you only want to buy regularly, what is DCA in crypto is the simplest strategy to understand and automate.

Can AI really help me trade crypto?

AI helps most with research, summarising documents, writing strategy code and reviewing your trades. It is weak at predicting prices: in the Alpha Arena live-money test, only 6 of 32 AI model runs finished positive in Season 1.5. These guides focus on the jobs AI does well and the checks that keep it honest.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Most guides here need no code: research workflows, prompts, no-code bots and calculators. The builder track, including building an AI crypto trading bot in Python, is for readers who want to write and test their own strategies.

Are these guides financial advice?

No. They are information and education only. We do not know your situation, and no guide here recommends buying or selling any asset. Crypto is high-risk; prices can fall sharply and bots can lose money. See our disclaimer.

How often are the guides updated?

We re-check prices, plan details and regulatory facts when products change, and every guide lists its sources with the date we checked them. AI tools change fast, so if you spot something out of date, email us and we will re-verify it.
